What each type means

Field safety notice

Action is needed on devices in the field: a replacement, an inspection, or a change in use. Affected customers are contacted directly and asked to confirm receipt.

Software advisory

A software or firmware defect with a fix available. We say whether any action is needed and whether data was affected.

Security advisory

A confirmed vulnerability, its severity, the affected versions and the fix. Published after a fix is available to customers.

Labeling update

A change to instructions for use, specifications or other labeling, without a change to the device.
